Almost 7 months!

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a great Christmas. Unfortunately Steve and I were snowed in at home in South Dakota. That means we didn't get to spend Christmas in Waseca :( It was a hard decision to not get behind the wheel, but after 19 inches of snow and the horror stories from friends that drove back to Sioux Falls on Sunday, it was definitely the best decision. The good news is, we're not done celebrating the holidays. We will celebrate Christmas in Waseca this coming weekend!

Not much to report with the baby. She's been a bit quiet today. I think it's because I've actually been busy! Steve and I sat around for 4 days and I had plenty of time to sit back and enjoy the somersaults. I'm starting to get nervous about becoming a mom...normal I'm sure. The baby's room is nearly complete...and her closet is filling up quickly!

Here is a picture of me at 26 weeks when I was home in Evansville. I'm now almost 28 weeks - that's 7 months for everyone trying to do the math!

Hope everyone has a great New Year's Eve. I will update later this week after my scheduled doctor's appointment!

Merry (early) Christmas!!

Hi Everyone! Well I made it home to Evansville Thursday and surprisingly we didn't miss any flights (really by the skin of our teeth!). It was quite the traveling day, but we're here and safe. So in case you didn't know, the baby is great and the doc ok'd me to head home. She's measuring perfect, even though I feel like my stomach is getting huge! My small maternity shirts are getting a little snug :) Mom says she's going to take a picture of me later, so I'll try and post that. I love coming home around the holidays. The house looks so beautiful. Mom decorates so well...I don't have that knack! I will try and post a picture of the outside later too. You guys will be amazed! Today we are going to celebrate Christmas and open presents and tomorrow I am having my first baby shower. I can't wait. And I think Steve is excited too. It will make it feel even more real.

Now on to some more baby news. Like I mentioned, baby is growing at a good pace. I would guess she's close to 2 pounds, maybe a little more now. Last time they checked was the day after Thanksgiving and she was almost a pound and a half. She is a mover and a shaker and she is very very low. So low that I think sometimes she is going to fall out!! But I have been reassured that is not going to happen :) I am 6 and a half months (26 weeks) already and don't have much time to go. Steve wants to see her now and I told him we have to wait just a bit longer :) Anyway hope everyone has a great weekend and if you're celebrating the holiday early, have a great time with family and friends! I have to say it's not fun living this far from my family, but over the holidays it means we get and extra long Christmas!

Pains and Gains

Well I'm sitting here battling an upset tummy...just another day in the life! She is growing like a weed and moving around like crazy! I'll be 25 weeks on Thursday, so only 15 more weeks to go. It's insane how this pregnancy is flying by! Next week I get tested for gestational diabetes and get the go-ahead to fly home for Christmas :) I can't wait to see my family and of course my sweet nephew Warren.

Sunday my good friend Jessica came over to take some pictures and document my pregnancy (preview on the left). We also snuck in some Christmas Card pictures. Look for those cards in the next few weeks in your mailbox!

On a baby note...she can definitely here what's going on outside my belly. Today I did a story about a CareFlight pilot at one of our Hospitals here in town and I was standing outside when the blades started whipping around. She started dancing and kicking and flipping! I think it may have been a bit too loud for her. I was even holding my ears! Anyway hope everyone is doing well!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi everyone. Hope you all are enjoying your Thanksgiving with family and friends. I am awaiting a few visitors! My mom, dad and two aunts should be here any minute! I can't wait :) My parents haven't seen me since August and boy do I look different! I am 23 weeks today and growing right along. Steve and I have an ultrasound tomorrow. It's a follow up from the first one because they couldn't get a good look at her brain. In my 3D US everything looked great, but because that was for a study it doesn't go in my medical records. So tomorrow is just a great excuse to see her again :) And my family gets to join! Here's a new picture of the baby bump! I'll be 6 months next week if you can believe it!! Have a great holiday :)

21 Weeks!

Well baby girl Hanson is definitely going to be a dancer. During our ultrasound today the tech kept saying, "Does she usually move around this much??" And Steve felt her move for the first time tonight....very cool :) They didn't get me a CD of the 3D pictures so I had to take pictures of the ones they gave me. So in short they aren't the best of quality. But if you run into me just ask to see my baby and I'll pull out the slide show!!
The US tech said everything looked really really good. Brain and heart have developed well and her little nose is sort of looking like mine! She is 14 ounces, so almost a pound and is measuring right on schedule. Hope you enjoy the pictures! I'll have another US in two weeks so I'll be posting more pictures then!
She's already singing!

Thumbs up!
Doctor says she is still head down. Probably explains why I've had such trouble getting around lately. My doctor is recommending a pregnancy belt...but we'll see!!

We're Half Way

Hi All. It's been a while since I posted last but no new information to really pass along. Baby is growing fast it seems and I'm getting bigger every day. Shes about 10 1/2 ounces right now and is about the length of banana believe it or not! She's been kicking away like crazy. Sometimes she gives me a good 8-count :) We'll have to see if she's interested in dance when she's older!

If you didn't notice I changed the look of my blog. Hope you like it. Next Thursday I get to see her again! For those of you don't know, I am involved in a study at Sanford Hospital here in Sioux Falls. The study looks at how the baby develops and is also focusing on SIDS and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Basically I get free 3-D ultrasounds and get to hear and see the baby a lot more! So I'm all for it :) So next week I get my first 3-D ultrasound (Thursday). Look for more pictures then. In the meantime, enjoy this new belly picture of me. I am really pregnant - can you believe it? :)

It's A .... GIRL!!!

The day finally arrived when we could find out! After a bit of searching the ultrasound tech was able to find our "little girl." Of course I screamed, "I knew it!!" while Steve just sat there...who knows what he was thinking :) We are both super excited and had to buy a few little girl things tonight. It really seems real now. And it's nice to finally say She...instead of It!

I've posted some of our ultrasound pictures and Steve even took some photos while I was getting the ultrasound...so you all get an extra sneak peak!! Hope you all enjoy them...and Welcome Baby Girl Hanson. I could just burst!!

here's her profile

Here's her tiny feet!

she's in 3D...check out her fingers!

My 18-week ultrasound

Steve thought he could do it...not so much

By the way, she weighs about 9 ounces and is in the 60 percentile for her weight. So she's growing right along. The ultrasound tech said everything looked very good, but had a hard time getting a clear picture of the brain. That means we'll get another ultrasound in a month. She was in a really really weird position and wasn't cooperating too much! Probably a sign of things to come, especially if she's anything like her parents!!

Almost 17 weeks!

We have reached another milestone....I am almost 17 weeks along and feeling great. But I have to admit, the baby is causing some severe ligament pain! It seems every time I cough, move, walk, etc everything is stretching to make room for the little guy or gal. But I am not as tired so that's a welcome improvement!

This past weekend some great friends and I headed to Minneapolis and did some much needed maternity shopping. We had a blast and of course I had to play with the fake pregnany belly at the GAP. Picture coming soon :)

This week I think I've been feeling the baby A LOT more. It's just rolling around in there! Next week I can finally say he or she...and as many of you have noticed, I'm excited :)

Right now the baby is about the size of an avocado and about 4 1/2 inches long. Not too exciting of an update, but there will be more to come. I'll check back in, in about a week!

15 weeks

Happy Sunday to everyone. Hope you all had a great weekend. I had a great one, besides fighting a terrible sinus infection. My doctor finally prescribed an antibiotic and I'm slowly getting better. I'm hoping by the middle of the week my ears have popped!

Today I got together with some great friends and made baby booties. They turned out so cute! I can't wait for he or she to wear them. And believe it or not, they were super easy. I plan on making a few more pairs!

And here it is....a picture of the baby bump. I popped out over the weekend and a lot of people say they can tell I'm pregnant...so I thought I'd post a picture!

Now for a baby update. It's about 4 inches long now and is about the size of an apple...or the size of my fist, depending on which book or website you visit. I think this next weekend I will venture out and buy a few maternity pants...maybe some cute tops. It's been forever since I hit the mall!!

This Thursday I will be four months already! Time is really flying by. I'll be blogging soon!

Hello 2nd Trimester!!

Hello All! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. But I'm here and have some exciting news to share. Last Thursday (at 14 weeks) Steve and I headed off to our baby appointment and found out that we will know if we're having a boy or girl in less than a month!! We go in October 22 for the ultrasound. Can't wait! Baby's heartbeat was about 160 so I'm still convinced it's a girl, but we will soon know for sure. This week Steve and I will be cleaning out the spare room which will become the baby's room. Wish us luck. I don't know how we accumulate so much stuff!!

On to more baby news. Baby Hanson is now the size of lemon and I have made it through my first trimester. I'm feeling pretty good, besides the allergies and sleepless nights I had a run-in with lately. I'm thinking it may be time to just slow down a bit, but there's no time! I know it may be a little early, but I could swear I felt the baby move this weekend. It felt like a little tap inside my belly...I'll keep you posted on that.

So to wrap it all up, we find out in about 3 weeks what we're having and of course I'll announce it to the world! Hope everyone is havin a great week and had a great weekend. Please keep Steve and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Tragedy struck last week when Steve's 14-year-old cousin was killed in a car accident. It's been a very difficult time for everyone. So give your loved one an extra hug today. I now make sure Steve gets lots, several times a day...which I'm not sure he's too fond of! Take care!

Week 13

We're almost through the first trimester! Although I don't have much to complain about. Feeling great, except I'm not sleeping too well. Thank goodness for the weekend though! Steve and I are traveling to Marshall, MN this weekend to see the Upper Iowa Football team play. Should be a fun time!

Now on to baby news! I am 13 weeks now...time is really flying by! Next Thursday we have our 14-week appointment and we'll find out when in October we will be able to find out if it's a boy or girl. Can't wait! From what I've read the baby is about 3 inches long and is about the size of a medium shrimp! Wierd I know...but one fun fact I found - the baby now has fingerprints! Not showing quite yet (at least not for someone to say I look pregnant). But my pants are fitting a bit snug. I will soon be hitting up maternity stores I think!

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoys their weekend! Tune in next week!

As The Baby Grows

A little update on how Baby Hanson is growing. At almost 13 weeks its hands are beginning to open and close. If I push on my belly, he or she will squirm around in there, although I won't feel it for a few more weeks! The baby is now the size of a lime.

Today I found out some good friends of mine are having a boy! So exciting! Only a few more weeks until the pink or blue news arrives!

Today I learned that I really need to start taking time for myself...starting to get stressed out about work and silly things!

Week 12

Hi All,

Because our families are so far away, I thought I'd create a blog to chronicle a day in the life of Mommy Hanson :) We are 12 weeks and 2 days now, and everything is going just great. I sometimes forget I am even pregnant! Everyone keeps say, "Just wait, you will!" So I guess I'd better take advantage of the great sleep I'm getting now! I will use this blog to post pictures and any news. We head to the doctor in a week and a half for our 14 week check-up and then a month after that we find out if we're having a boy or girl! CAN'T WAIT! Soon I will post pictures, but for now, as I'm getting used to blogging, you'll have to suffer through my posts :) Thanks for checking in, and tune in soon!
